The Newcastle Memorial Walk is regarded as one of the best nighttime experiences in the Hunter Valley.
It’s a stunning destination and offers magnificent views out over the beach, town and ocean, probably best seen at dusk for the sunset, this magnificent outlook is a local favourite and adored by visitors as well.
High above the cliff tops of central Newcastle you’ll have uninterrupted views out to the west. Many visit for the memorial at the top in which “The Ode” is inscribed in metal and a Roll of Honour is worked into the silhouettes of ANZAC soldiers along the railing.
Great for fitness freaks, the track winds up and down and links up to a course that runs across sand dunes and the beach.
The site is also a popular spot for hang-gliding and other thrill-seeking adventure activities.
For those who don’t fancy the stairs, you can park a the top and take the gentle slope down to the level viewing area which still offers great views.
Possibly the best part? It’s free!
